[HANG ZHOU] Miss.Hangzhou

Dear L:
It is said, east or west, home is best.
I guess I finally understood this proverb when I walked out the airport, seeing this familiar land again.
     Yes, this is my beauty---Hangzhou.
The spring of West Lake
Once, an old Chinese saying had declared, "there is heaven above, Suzhou and Hangzhou below." Centuries later, Marco Polo called Hangzhou the most enchanting city in all the world.
This is most evident in the West Lake --a land of intoxicating beauty, which is also the geographic center of the city.
In the summer of 2011,West Lake was proclaimed as part of World Heritage Site.
Here, you can see those hills embrace the lake on three sides; the city proper lies to the east.
So, why don't we start with ten of the most beautiful sites of West Lake first? See below:
Spring Dawn at Sudi Causeway
Melting Snow at Broken Bridge
Melting Snow at Broken Bridge
Sunset Glow over Leifeng Hill
Lotus in the Breeze at Crooked Courtyard
Autumn Moon on Calm Lake (a lakeside park at the west end of the Bai Causeway)
Listening to Orioles Singing in the Willows
Viewing Fish and Lotus Ponds at Flower Harbor
Evening Bell at Nanping Hill
Three Pools Mirroring the Moon
Twin Peaks Piercing the Clouds.

These ten beautiful sites have been popular to foreign tourists for years. However today, I want to recommend somewhere special for you.
First: Lingyin Temple
Admission fee: CNY 30 (Temple of Soul's Retreat); CNY 45 (Peak Flown From Afar)
If visitors want to visit Temple of Soul's Retreat, they have to enter Peak Flown From Afar Scenic Area first and can not avoid the admission fee for Peak Flown From Afar
Opening Hours:

07:00 - 18:15 (Stop selling ticket at 17:30)

Second: Dragon Well Mountain
The most famous green tea in China is certainly Long Jing (Dragon well), which is grown in the Dragon Well mountains around the West Lake area of Hangzhou. Long Jing, or Dragon Well, was named after a well near the Old Long Jing Temple some 1700 years ago. One legend goes that while digging this well during the Ming Dynasty, the person found a unique dragon-shaped stone and from that time on called it Dragon Well.

Third: Xiling Society of Seal Arts

Xiling Society of Seal Arts is an academic society of seal arts located in Hangzhou, China. Xiling was the first academic society of seal-related learnings and arts, and currently the largest.

  1. I've been to Hangzhou once. It is indeed the most beautiful place I've ever seen and I shall never forget those days. But I found out that I remmeber very few places in your list. It seems I need to go back there again someday.

  2. I have been to Hangzhou several time. It is a really pretty city and I love the West Lake very much. Sitting in the tea house that next to the lake and having a cup of green tea is enjoyable! I hope to go to Hangzhou again this summer vacation, maybe you can recommend some good restaurant to me! :)
