[HANG ZHOU] Go!Go! South Food!



Dear L:
        Goes along with the last post. Now I want to recommend some decent  restaurants in Hangzhou.

First: Grandma's House
Recommendation index: ★★★★
Average spending: CNY 36/person (about $6/person)
Description:A real value-for-money experience combining skillfully prepared dishes, friendly service and an easily accessible lakeside location.

Despite being only 12 years old, the restaurant chain has outlets in 30 locations around Hangzhou. It has also branched out to the other cities in Zhejiang Province, as well as Shanghai and Beijing.

            Second: Zhi Wei Guan -Flavor Tasting Restaurant
          Recommendation index:★★★★★ 
                 Average spending: CNY 100/person ($17/person)
    Description :  In front of every chain restaurant of the Flavor Tasting Restaurant of Hangzhou, you can see a couple of red plaques with a line of distinctive calligraphy on them which saying literally as “Stop Your Cab to Taste the Nice Flavor, or Get off from Your Horseback to Find the Delicious”.

Third: Lou Wai Lou Restaurant

Average spending: CNY 120/person ($20/person)
DescriptionLou Wai Lou literally means a ‘building outside a building’, and is Hangzhou’s most famous restaurant, apparently with a history of more than 150 years.  Situated at the foot of Gushan (Solitary Hill), Lou Wai Lou is perfect for tourists wanting a taste traditional Hangzhou cuisine and the beautiful scenery of West Lake.

Song Dynasty Shrimp

  1. haha~ I just talked about food in your last post, and now here is the recommendation! I love West Lake Fish in Sweet Sour Sauce so much! It tastes really good and I heard the process of cooking this dish is very complex. Do you know anything about that?
